Ulverstone crowned Premier Division Champions at State Pennant Finals in Hobart
Ulverstone were crowned Premier Division State Champions today at Claremont in Bowls Tasmania’s Saturday State Pennant finals which saw premiers from the South, North, North-West and East Coast playing against each other in the grand finale of lawn bowls for the season.
In the first game of the Premier Division State Championship on Saturday morning at Claremont, Kingborough had to work hard to defeat Longford by four shots. Kingborough’s only winner was Will Coad who defeated Daniel Baker by 16 shots. Longford won on the other two rinks with Jarrod Howard beating Nathan Dinning by 11 shots and Chris Roach finishing one shot in front of Jadon Fowler.
On Saturday afternoon, Ulverstone took on Longford on a high-class green running in excess of 17 seconds and were too good winning on all rinks by 37 shots. Taelyn Male defeated Jarrod Howard by 20 shots, Rob McMullen beat Chris Roach by 13 shots and Michael Sims had a close tussle with Daniel Baker before winning by four shots.
On Sunday morning, undefeated teams in Ulverstone and Kingborough fought it out for the State Premiership. Ulverstone jumped out to an eight-shot lead early in the game and maintained that lead all day eventually winning by ten shots. Taelyn Male set the win up for Ulverstone defeating Nathan Dinning by 13 shots and Rob McMullen beat Jason Fowler by three shots. Kingborough won on the other rink with Will Coad defeating Michael Sims by six shots. The star-studded Ulverstone line-up, who only lost two games for the season and included six State players in their line-up, were worthy winners of the 2025 State Premier Division Championship.
